The purpose of this article is to analyze changes in job titles in contemporary English from the standpoint of gender markings and to identify trends in this sphere. The author examines job titles using the information in mass media, analyses data from National Career Service (the UK), Google ngram viewer corpus and dictionaries. The research shows that the leading contemporary trend is neutralization, understood as the elimination of any gender markings. Gender neutralization is gradually replacing the specification prioritized earlier, i.e. the creation and use of feminitives, and both trends currently coexist. Some attempts of enforced neutralization as an element of political correctness are also examined.
