The attempt is made to consider the phytonym haraana, tibhen ‘saranka’ from the point of view of linguoculturology. The choice of the phytonym is due to a large number of lexical units and its role in economic activity. An etymological analysis with a description of the distinctive features is given. The idea of the symbolism of sarana, features and properties of the plant are revealed with the help of folklore material and fiction
