Punishment for murder: characteristic of criminal liability under the law of the PRC

The criminal law policy of the PRC is rightly considered by modern scholars as one of the most stringent in relation to persons brought to criminal responsibility. In the current Criminal Code of the PRC, 45 out of 350 sanctions provide for punishment in the form of the death penalty or life imprisonment as an alternative to the first. In this regard, it is relevant to study the criminal liability of the PRC in relation to such a grave crime as murder. The study examines the general characteristics of criminal responsibility under the current legislation of China and analyzes in detail the rules regarding the appointment, differentiation and execution of punishment for murder.
