A tax on harmful products as the salvation of the world economy

The increased incidence of diabetes and prevalence of obesity, particularly in children, requires the adoption of measures aimed at prevention of excessive sugar consumption, one of the main sources of which are drinks with high sugar content. One of the possible measures aimed at the solution of this problem is the introduction of excise taxes on these beverages. The use of such measures of price regulation would not only reduce the consumption of this category of beverages that would have a significant effect on public health, but would increase tax revenues to the Federal budget, which could be directed to support the production of healthy food, including the cultivation of vegetables and fruits.
