The article discusses the purpose and role of taxes for the state. One of the most urgent and serious economic problems is revealed: non-payment of taxes as a kind of tax crime. A general description of this problem is given, specific examples of non-payment of taxes in Russia are given. The measures taken by state authorities to solve this problem are considered.
