Цель описательного обзора с ключевыми словами «пограничное расстройство личности» и «самоповреждающее поведение» в MEDLINE и PsycINFO статей за период с 2000 года (наряду с основополагающими ранними статьями) представить доказательные данные о распространённости, динамике несуицидального и суицидального поведения в связи с пограничным расстройством личности (ПРЛ) в целом и отдельными его симптомами в неклинических и клинических выборках. Диагноз ПРЛ изначально требует внимания к риску самоповреждений и использованию особых мер их предупреждения.
