Folk arts and crafts of Altai Republic: trends of late XX - early XXI centuries

The article is devoted to the latest trends in the development of folk arts and crafts of Altai Republic. The program documents of regulating the revival processes and development of traditional crafts are referred. An evaluation of their current state is provided. In the early 2010-es about 400 artists worked in the region. Their activities are characterized by growing interest in the archaic, authentic recreation of ethnic and styling based on a synthesis of traditions. The formation of the leading craft centers of the republic is reconstructed on a wide range of materials, as well data on the Altai «art village» are provided. The state and society support of craft centers is expressed in the programs for sustainable development of local communities. In Altai Republic folk crafts are considered as one of the resources of the economic and socio-cultural stabilization.
