Kalmyks folk songs recorded by Ts.-D. Nominkhanov among the natives of Stanitsa Grabbevskaya (1927)

Throughout his scientific career, orientalist Tseren Dordzhi Nominhanov collected linguistic, ethnographic and folklore materials, which are now stored in various archives in Russia and Mongolia. Among the materials of the Scientific Archive of the Kalmyk Scientific Center of the RAS, a remarkable manuscript includes the texts of folk songs recorded by the scientist during the three main periods of his collection of folklore materials among the Mongolian peoples. The Kalmyk Folk Songs case includes materials collected from 1927 to 1962.The songs are fixed by Ts.-D. Nominkhanov among different ethnic groups. The purpose of the article is to give a general description of folk songs recorded by a researcher from the Kalmyks of the Don stanitsa (village) Grabbevskaya in 1927, as well as to identify some linguistic features based on the material of these recordings. This article is the first part of the study. In the following articles, recordings of songs of the Kalmyks of Bolshederbetovsky ulus (1927), songs of the Torguts of Xinjiang (recorded in 1935) and songs from the repertoire of Sandzhi Manzhikov recorded in 1962 will be considered.
