Folk songs recorded by Ts.D. Nominkhanov from the Kalmyks of Bolshederbetovsky Ulus

Throughout his scientific career, orientalist Tseren Dordzhi Nominhanov collected linguistic, ethnographic and folklore materials, which are now stored in various archives in Russia and Mongolia. Among the materials of the Scientific Archive of the Kalmyk Scientific Center of the RAS, a remarkable manuscript includes the texts of folk songs recorded by the scientist during the three main periods of his collection of folklore materials among the Mongolian peoples. The case “Kalmyk Folk Songs” includes materials collected from 1927 to 1962. The songs are fixed by Ts.D. Nominkhanov among different ethnic groups. The purpose of the article is to give a general description of the folk songs recorded by the researcher among the Kalmyks of Bolshederbetovsky ulus (1927), as well as to identify some linguistic features based on the material of these recordings. The songs recorded by the scientist among the Kalmyks of stanitsa Grabbevskaya in 1927, which form the first part of the manuscript “Kalmyk folk Songs”, were analyzed in another article. In the next article, it is planned to consider recordings of songs by the merchants of Xinjiang (recorded in 1935) and songs from the repertoire of Sandzhi Manzhikov recorded in 1962.
