Peoples (ethnic communities) of the Caucasus involved in enforcing rule of law and securing borders of Russia: interim highlander militia (the end of XIX to early XX centuries)

The paper observed the part taken by the peoples of the Caucasus in evolving the framework capable of enforcing law and order with militia detachments, at the end of XIX and the early XX centuries. The study presented a comparative description of various approaches to arranging enforcement of law and order. A review of data sources has been carried out, namely those put on the grounds of featuring the part the ethnic communities of the Caucasus had taken in enforcing rule of law and in securing the Russian domain with involvement of militia detachments.
