The population of Western Siberia in 1934–1937

The article presents the first in the domestic historiography analysis of the process of demographic subsystem recovery in Western Siberia after the overcoming of the famine in the early 1930s. The author, on the basis of a wide range of sources, entered into scientific circulation for the first time, explores the main tendencies of the mortality and fertility, as well as population change in the region. The high emphasis is paid to the movement of epidemic diseases; the main causes of slow recovery of the regional demographic subsystem are revealed. The influence of this process on the demographic transition in the Western Siberia is shown.
