The legacy of Nicholas of Japan as a basis of the missionary activity of the Rusian Orthodox Church includes translations of the texts of Holy Scripture into Japanese, the principles based on the experience of his ministration, the introduction of "women's missionary work", sermons and his personal example. St. Nicholas of Japan can rightly be called one of the largest missionaries of the 19th - early 20th centuries. He is rightfully called the Apostle of Japan, the Apostle of a country that due to historical circumstances was hostile to Christianity. By increasing the education of population, the saint thereby brought them closer to understanding the Gospels. It also improved the attitude of the authorities towards Orthodoxy as a teaching, but not as a "spy sect". The study of the experience of the missionary activity of St. Nicholas is of great importance for the modern Church, it demonstrates the vector of its foreign policy views directed to the East.
