Inheritance of mid-oleic acid trait in sunflower hybrid seeds of the second and third generation

We studied regularities of inheritance of the mid oleic content in of F2 and F3 seeds for scientific provision of sunflower breeding for oil quality improvement. Five constant inbred lines of the sunflower genetic collection of VNIIMK with different oleic acid contents were used: low oleic RHA416 and LG28 (33%), increased oleic VK678 (48%), mid oleic LG27 (66%) and high oleic LG26 (88%, Ol mutation). We determined fatty acid composition by gas-liquid chromatography of methyl esters on a Chrom-5 chromatograph. When crossing mid oleic LG27 with low oleic RHA416 there was not differences between reciprocal F2 in the type of inheritance of oleic acid content in individual seeds. This indicates the absence of a maternal inheritance of the trait of mid oleic content. Negative transgression is established. The single-peak distribution of F2 values, as well as those coinciding with the mean values, indicate the additive nature of inheritance of the trait...
