The purpose of this article is the desire to comprehend the historical and theoretical foundations of the phenomenon of mentoring and its application in improving the activities of the hand-to-hand fighting section of House of student youth “Magnit”. The analysis of this problem is caused by the requirements of the time and is due to the need to introduce a regional target model of mentoring in educational institutions. The first part of the article reveals the relevance of the problem, and provides an analysis of mentoring as a socio-cultural and pedagogical phenomenon. In the second part, an attempt is made to comprehend the practical application of mentoring in the work of the association of sports and health-improving orientation, the head of which is the author of this article.
