The article examines the role of patriotic education In Russia at present. Attention is paid to the difficulties faced by teachers when implementing initiatives in matters of patriotic education. A comprehensive analysis of scientific and educational-methodical publications covering modern and historical-pedagogical aspects of mentoring and patriotism is carried out. The study focuses on articles on pedagogy devoted to the education of patriotism in educational institutions, as well as historical-pedagogical documents reflecting the development of mentoring in different historical eras and its influence on the formation of the civic position of students. Particular attention is paid to the experience of implementing regional innovational platforms (hereinafter referred to as RIP) in the Chelyabinsk region and methodological recommendations published by both Russian and foreign scientists. For further analysis, empirical methods were used, which allowed obtaining accurate data on the current state of the level of patriotism and mentoring in the Kartalinsky Multidisciplinary Technical School. The study used systematic observation of mentoring processes and a survey among students, which made it possible to better understand the interaction of mentors and students in both academic and extracurricular activities, as well as to assess the impact of these processes on the education of patriotism. Students, as the most active and vulnerable category of the population, are often exposed to negative ideologies, which confirms the importance of developing a sense of patriotism and responsibility in them. Mentoring in professional educational organizations, providing support and organizing events, is considered a key tool for patriotism education. The study, conducted at the Kartalinsky Multidisciplinary Technical School, includes an analysis of 683 questionnaires and reveals the level of patriotic values development among students. The results show that students have certain weaknesses in their knowledge of history and ecology, as well as in their ability to distinguish “fabricated” news. The combined approach to the study allows for a deeper understanding of the importance of mentoring in patriotic education, which entails the need to improve educational programs. Despite the current initiatives, the results are still below expectations - more effective measures are required to involve young people in social life and active participation in patriotic education, which in turn will contribute to the creation of a new model of ideological education. Thanks to the opening of the RIP on the basis of Kartalinsky Multidisciplinary Technical School, the process of forming a mentoring structure has been launched, helping students adapt to new requirements, taking into account the division of mentoring into formal and informal. Formal is organized by non-profit organizations, providing support to young people, while informal arises spontaneously in social networks. Both types of mentoring have positive effects and can be integrated for maximum benefit on the basis of the RIP.
