The article is devoted to the course, intermediate results and prospects of reforming the Russian higher economic education. In particular, the article states that the development of Economics includes trends of differentiation and integration of scientific economic knowledge. The extreme variants of these trends are: the formation of a set of economic disciplines, having no internal connection, and formation of the "hard core", which excludes the diversity of opinions and concepts. The core of the modern scientific economic knowledge is theoretical Economics, which includes: microeconomics, macroeconomics. The article substantiates the necessity of allocation of mesoeconomics as an intermediate link between micro and macroeconomics. The theoretical core of scientific economic knowledge is surrounded by a protective layer which can comprise three fairly stable layers. The first is directly related to the economic theory. This layer can include Economic history, History of economic doctrines, Economic statistics, Econometrics, etc. The second- includes general professional disciplines that need to be taught in any economic specialty, such as Accounting, National economy, Regional economy and others. The third layer comprises professional disciplines, which focus on the formation of the corresponding professional competences, differentiated according to specialization of bachelors, including its academic and applied direction.
