The article is dedicated to the underexplored aspects of the history of the domestic pre-revolutionary theological education of the 19th century. For the first time, it presents an overview and analysis of the published scientific and pedagogical legacy of the distinguished graduate of the Olonets Theological Seminary (1835) and the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy (1839), Alexei Nikitich Khergozersky, who served as a lecturer in biblical studies at the Vologda Theological Seminary. His educational materials received high praise from the Holy Synod and were implemented as core texts within the system of theological seminaries. Particular attention is given to his memoirs about the Olonets Theological Seminary, which serve as a valuable historical source and are also relevant for the moral formation of modern pastors of the Church. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the importance of the works of A.N. Khergozersky for the history of Russian biblical studies. As a result of the research, a conclusion was made about the relevance of his works and the possibility of their use for the modern system of Russian theological schools.
