Scientific heritage of K. S. Korolev in the study of the medieval history of the Komi people

The paper deals with the contribution of K. S. Korolev to the archaeological study of the origins of the formation of the Middle Vychegda local variant of the Vym culture of the Vychegda Perm. In the Middle Vychegda he discovered and studied multi-layered sites in the Shoynaty and Ugdym archaeological complexes, which revealed cultural layers from the Mesolithic to the Middle Ages, among which the sites of the Vanvizdino and Vym cultures are of particular scientific interest. The scientific merit of the researcher is the discovery of a new habitat area of the ancient Komi-Zyryans, the identification of the Middle Vychegda local variant of the Vym culture of the Vychegda Perm, the substantiation of the genetic continuity of archaeological cultures of the Iron Age from the Ananyino to the Vym culture of the Vychegda Perm, the determination of the place and role of foreign cultural components in their formation and development – Pechora, Trans-Urals and Pre-Kama, the role of the natural and climatic factor in the sphere of economic structure, socio-economic development and formation of the Komi ethnic group.
