Navigating the common challenges of the prepositional Russian grammar case system for English speakers in language learning

The article examines the grammatical knowledge construction in the Russian language, specifically the case and prepositional-case system, for English-speaking students. The study focuses on the difficulty of learning the Russian language's case system due to the discrepancy between the two languages and the absence of the case system in English. The challenges include polysemy of cases, diversity of expressions, alternation of singular and plural stems of nouns, pronouns, adjectives, numerals, and grammatical management. To tackle these obstacles effectively various teaching approaches like mnemonic devices, context driven learning and active interaction with speakers are recommended.
