Plants and animals’ names as trope elements of folklore text (on the example of “Onego traditional heroic epics” by A. F. Guilferding)

The paper is focused on phytonyms, zoonyms, and functions they fulfill in creating tropes and figures of speech in «Onego Traditional Heroic Epics» collected by A. F. Guilferding. This analysis demonstrates that, on the one hand, the names of animals and plants reflect ancient mythological concepts of the Slavs, and, on the other hand, they partake in the formation of a new poetic system, which for the most part relates to the anthropocentric world of Russian epic.
