This article discusses various approaches to the definition of the concept of «adaptation», the history of the emergence of this term is given. It also reflects the specifics of the process of its occurrence among students of educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, as a process of activity associated with the morpho - functional restructuring of body systems and optimization of their work in modern realities, taking into account the influence of psychological manifestations on its formation. The opinion of researchers in this field is considered, who propose a model of levels of mental adaptation, including four main levels, each of which has its own specifics. The components in the context of the adaptation of students of departmental organizations to the performance of the stipulated loads are highlighted, and ways of adjusting the final result depending on the specifics of the activity are indicated.
