Some aspects of the philosophy of medieval symbolism

In this article, an attempt was made to carry out a philosophical and cultural analysis of the main symbols of Christian culture.The medieval picture of the world is a universal allegory: each object could be considered literally, allegorically, tropologically and anagogically. Christian thinkers developed a multi-valued system of religious symbols, following the study of which it was concluded that many Christian symbols have prototypes in ancient aesthetics, but acquired new, deeper meanings in the process of semiosis.
