Some aspects of the state regulation of religious sphere in the Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region

The article deals with the policy regulating the religious sphere in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China in the late XX - early XXI centuries. The author pays special attention to the normative legal acts and a number of actions regulating religious activity of Muslims of Xinjiang that is the largest national region of China. For more than half of Xinjiang inhabitants Islam is a basis of the national culture and has impact on their public consciousness.
