The aspects of the assessment of authenticity of numismatic material

The article considers the issues of distribution of counterfeit coins that has been taken out of circulation and being indeed simple souvenirs but used by frauds for misleading the consumers. The article presents the author’s simple visual methods of assessing the authenticity of ancient coins without any special equipment and experience on working with antiquities, as well as unpublished earlier in the submitted system form, which can be used by the officers of internal affairs bodies in the course of initial inquiry, for raising awareness among the population by police officers and also for inclusion in the methodological materials of reference and information archives.
