Some aspects of the prospects for the development of ethnographic geography in the context of ethnographic tourism

The purpose of this article is to determine the prospects for the development of ethnogeography as a science from the standpoint of interaction and mutual influence on the development of domestic ethnotourism. The author analyzes a number of scientific works directly and indirectly related to ethnogeography and ethnographic tourism and draws certain conclusions. Descriptive and bibliometric methods were used. The analysis of the scientific-methodological and scientific-practical works on ethnogeography available today shows that they are partly fragmentary and are devoted, as a rule, only to certain aspects in the context of global studies of ethnic territory and its geographical location and do not fully reflect the scientific and practical needs of ethnographic tourism. Unfortunately, no serious research developments have been carried out in the combination of “ethnotourism” and “ethnogeography” to date, as evidenced by the bibliographic analysis carried out by the author on the Russian information and analytical portal eLIBRARY.RU. Today, the value and role of ethnographic tourism in Russia is being rethought, which directly gives impetus to the development of both this tourist destination and ethnogeography, as a science providing the necessary amount of knowledge to the tourism industry. The theoretical/practical significance lies in determining promising areas of practical application in ethnographic tourism of the results of scientific research in the field of ethnogeography. Determination of the ways of scientific search in the aspect of scientific and methodological meaningfulness of the problems of expanding the information and scientific field, both in the system of ethnogeographic knowledge and in the field of ethnotourist methodology, allowing, on the one hand, to provide high-quality professional training of specialists in the field of ethnotourism, on the other hand, to expand the methodological base of ethnogeography as a subject of scientific knowledge.
