The article deals with two aspects of the concepts “Life” and “Death” in the novel “The Blind Assassin” by Margaret Atwood. The first aspect is the conceptual metaphor “Life is different worlds brought together, Death is one of these worlds”, the second is “Death is a sacrifice guarding Life”. The article shows how analyzing these aspects helps to reach a more profound understanding of the text’s message and to heighten the aesthetic impression that a work of verbal art creates.
