Some named reactions

The chemistry of organoelement compounds continues to be steadily developed and to develop related fields of chemical science. A wide range of synthetic methods developed on the basis of organoelement chemistry in recent decades still allows obtaining new and functionally useful materials. The abundance of works devoted to the complete synthesis of complex natural molecules is also due to developments in the field of organoelement chemistry. Nevertheless, the lack of reference information concerning the latest achievements in this branch of chemistry significantly reduces the possibilities of its comprehensive study. This problem has been previously raised by V.V. Sharutin and V.S. Senchurin in their monograph “Named Reactions in Chemistry of Organoelement Compounds”, but since its publication more than ten years have gone by. In order to fill the gap that has arisen during this period, this review describes the latest cases of using named reactions involving organoelement compounds (including those not mentioned in the monograph): Bruylants, Nicholas, Ferrier, Vorbrüggen, Arbuzov-Michaelis, Atherton-Todd, Birum-Oleksyszyn, Petasis, Rauhut-Currier, Chan-Evans-Lam, Staudinger, Kinugasa, Lu, Pauson-Khand, Rautenstrauch, Corey-Seebach, Kukhtin-Ramirez, Grieco-Sharpless, Hudrlik-Peterson, Zweifel, Doyle-Kirmse, McKenna, Nesmeyanov-Vol’kenau-Bolesova, Soai, Trofimov-Gusarova and some others. For the completeness of presentation, the paper provides typical schemes, supposed mechanisms, and, if possible, the limits of their applicability and shortcomings. The reactions are conditionally divided into groups according to their type and features of the proceeding.
