Special features of architecture and space organization in Voikarsky settlement

The article deals with specific features of wooden architecture of autochthonous inhabitants in Lower Ob region. The work is based on the research results of architectural constructions at the medieval Voikarsky settlement (Ust-Voikarskoe I) made in 2012-2014. The archeological monument has a ice layer and it helps very much to save artifacts made of organic materials. The authors of the article point out some aboriginal techniques of building of wooden house building and give some characteristics of the interior living spaces and the plan of the settlement. They also reveal common features in architecture and planning structure of Voikarsky settlement and Nadymsky settlement (Nadymsky Gorodok), the archeological monument of aborigines of the North of Western Siberia, which has been already studied well. Nadymsky settlement existed in the 2 nd half of the 2 nd millennium A.D.
