Some features of the investigation of corruption crimes in the timber industry

Introduction. The article is devoted to the study of the issue of detection and investigation of corruption crimes in the timber industry, special attention is paid to their latency and insufficient attention from law enforcement agencies. Materials and Methods. The materials of the study were court decisions and materials of criminal cases on illegal logging of forest plantations – Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In the course of the research, such methods were used as: dialectical method of cognition; data analysis; questionnaires and interviews of respondents, the method of expert assessments and others. The Results of the Study made it possible to identify existing problems in the investigation of corruption crimes in this area, showed the ineffectiveness of some operational and tactical measures to identify crimes in the timber industry, raised the question of the need to develop effective investigative methods. Findings and Conclusions he analysis carried out by the author allowed us to suggest the need to develop a special methodology for investigating corruption crimes in this area. A number of recommendations for effective investigation have been developed, based on a situational approach, the aggressiveness of the investigation, taking into account typical defensive versions of the accused and the use of forensic tools to ensure compromises in a criminal case.
