Some features of fines as a punishment under the criminal legislation of Russia and Mongolia

Punishment in the form of a fine arose in ancient times and is still a part of the punishment system of many countries, including Russia and Mongolia. In 2016, the Criminal Code of Mongolia was adopted. According to the new Criminal Code, the procedure for conviction to a fine and its execution has changed significantly, which has led to an increase in using fines in practice. Currently, a fine in Mongolia is a frequently used punishment not associated with imprisonment, which meets international standards and obligations. The article studies the history of a fine in Russia and Mongolia, its modern legislative regulation as a punishment, and application statistics, as well as similarities and differences in the criminal legislation of Russia and Mongolia.
