Some problems of the purposes of punishment in the form of imprisonment for a certain period

The article deals with the problems arising in the process of imposition of imprisonment sentence. Imprisonment on a certain term of time is the most commonly assigned and used type of the criminal penalty. Given the overcrowding of penitentiary institutions, as well as orientation of the penal policy on mitigation, it is important to approach wisely selection and imposition of this kind of punishment.
