To methodological potential of recent language studies

Recent language studies focus on the closest interdependence between language and its speakers’ culture and try to reveal and explain the specifics of language “inner’ life: that which gives the language functional abilities as an instrument of cognition and communication. Taking the latter into account, “ideas” (categories) lying behind language forms and bringing them into correlation with perceptual and cognitive grounds providing cognition and cross-cultural understanding are investigated separately in various doctorate theses. In reality all these “ideas” work as an ensemble and ensure instant linguistic manifestation of thoughts and/or text understanding by referring to the world image formed through comprehending the “idea” of any object, feature, relation, etc. A new general theory of language should be multidisciplinary and intended to explain the complex interaction of social and individual in the language “inner life” on the basis of principal iconic character of linguistic signs along with “ideas” as products of different level generalization.
