Intangible factors in the elevation of appeal of blue-collar occupations for youth: expert evaluation

This article analyses the intangible factors in the elevation of appeal of blue-collar occupations for youth such as upside potential of education, qualification, promotion, etc. Some of the results of the research, namely one of its lines based on a sequence of expert interviews, were published in this issue earlier (e.g. № 3, 2016), but they were mostly regarding tangible aspects of choosing working occupations by youth, as well as different popularization measures, raising the popularity and attractiveness of the working occupations (№ 1, 2017). The author emphasizes the fact that some enterprises offer young people the opportunities to get or uplevel their education. Notably old factories and the new ones built recently and which are the members of multinational corporations or joint venture companies use different means and techniques to attract young workers. Young enterprises often have their own programs and training centers. Also they are actively demonstrating the opportunities for professional growth and mainstreaming. The article describes the high attractiveness of workplaces in multinational companies which create clear terms of career path and develop the motivation system for the employees. The author mentions the tendency to train personnel in these enterprises and provides the success stories - promotion from the position of the worker to the top management.
