Nonmedication methods for the treatment of alcohol dependence in women with comorbid affective disorders

Background. Affective pathology in alcoholism is associated with manifestations of a pathological craving for alcohol, characterized by polymorphism, instability, and anxiety-dysphoric symptoms. The variability of depressive symptoms correlates with the intensity of pathological craving and requires a differentiated selection of adequate therapy. Objective: description of the nosological structure and clinical typology of affective disorders comorbid with alcohol dependence in women; evaluation of the effectiveness of the use of the nonmedication method of resonant-acoustic action in the complex therapy of narcological patients. Materials. The main study group (n=41) consisted of women with a comorbid course of alcohol dependence and depressive disorder, in whose therapy resonant-acoustic exposure was used in combination with modern antidepressants. The comparison group (n=30) consisted of women with comorbid alcohol dependence and depressive disorder who received antidepressant therapy. Study Methods: clinical-psychopathological, clinical-dynamic, psychometric, clinical-catamnestic, statistical. Results. There was the most common in the surveyed group of women, comorbid combination of alcoholism with dysthymia, depression of mild and moderate severity Alcohol dependence is often the cause of development and modifies the manifestations of depression, just like depression, it often has a significant impact on the nature of the course of addictive pathology. The article shows the effectiveness and benefits of using resonant-acoustic exposure in the complex therapy of depressive disorders in women with alcohol dependence.
