Uncertainty in economic policy and the relationship with financial reporting

This article examines the relationship between financial reporting and economic policy uncertainty. The article identifies the relationship between economic policy uncertainty and financial reporting from the perspective of earnings management and fair value accounting. High economic policy uncertainty will result in less new information being communicated to firms, which may motivate managers to influence accounting measures toward a desired financial reporting outcome. This article expands our understanding of how economic conditions affect financial reporting results.
