Uneven development of Russian regions: historical and geoeconomic aspect

The article discusses the issue of historical uneven development of Russian regions due to their geographical and natural-climatic conditions, geopolitical position, policy of placement of productive forces and other factors, most of which are objective. This trend is likely to continue in the future, which will aggravate the already significant difference in the development of the center and the periphery (province). The development of state equalization policy is not based on domestic experience due to its fragmentation and fragility. The policy of equalization of levels of socio-economic development of regions, implemented today, implemented in accordance with the Fundamentals of the State Policy of Regional Development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025, affects only the central regions close to the capitals and megalopolises, while further spread to remote, eastern and northern regions is slowing down.
