A few words about sobering up stations: the historical aspect

The article considers the historical domestic experience in the formation of institutions for assisting persons who are intoxicated, as well as the positive and negative aspects of these institutions’ activities. It is concluded that the reconstruction of such institutions will contribute to the protection of rights and freedoms of citizens, solving the problems of restricting the freedom of movement of persons who are intoxicated before taking him/her to the sobering up station, providing them with medical care, as well as ensuring the safety of medical personnel, patients, property of medical organizations. At the same time, the temporary detention of persons in such institutions will not be contrary to international human rights agreements.
