Precarious employment in Russia's regions: experience of correlation analysis

The article reveals the concept of precarious employment on the basis of a critical analysis of scientific literature of domestic and foreign authors. Thearticle presents the author’s classification of the components of precarious employment and external socio-economic environment factors; the classification was developed on the basis of research findings obtained by Russian and foreign scientists. The components of precarious employment are arranged in three groups of statistical indicators: economic institutions, employment conditions and labour market conditions. In assessing the external socio-economic environment the author distinguishes three groups of factors: demographic, social and economic. For the components of precarious employment and external socio-economic environment factors the author proposes a system of indicators available in official Russian statistics materials. To assess the relationship between the prevalence of precarious employment and socio-economic development of territories the author conducted acorrelation analysis in which the Pearson correlation coefficient between indicators of external socio-economic environment and the prevalence of precarious employment in 80 regions of the Russian Federation was calculated...
