Nonverbal equivalents of characters' inner speech in J. D. Salinger's novel "The catcher in the rye"

The article deals with nonverbal means of communication of Salinger's characters as important elements of poetics of silence in the novel "The Catcher in the Rye". The author of the paper pays attention to such aspect of artistic method as replacement a word, inner speech for a gesture. The material under investigation is the novel "The Catcher in the Rye" by J. D. Salinger.
