Non-grain agricultural production of Stavropol province in the period of Russian capitalistic modernization (1861-1917)

The relevance of this article due to the importance of studying the history of the agrarian sector of Russia's regions, which today plays a significant role in the economy. Before the revolution the Russian empire was an agrarian-industrial state, a huge part of the population was engaged in agriculture, and the leading role in the trade, both domestic and international, took the grain. However, it began to gain momentum in the market and agricultural crops, nongrain. The presented article is devoted to the production of non-grain agricultural Stavropol, which has increased significantly in the post-reform period (1861‒1917). The author considers the main nongrain production industry Stavropol province, characterized by varying degrees of marketability, but showing the strengthening of agricultural specialization, which in this period was typical for many regions of the Russian Empire. Information on the development of tobacco, wine, flax growing, horticulture, and gardening illustrate the increase in specialization of agriculture Stavropol province. Presents statistical data, many of which are based on previously attracted by archival documents that characterize degree of development of non-grain agricultural production of this region. The importance of non-grain specialization for agricultural technology, but it is as certain cultures impacted the crop rotation, which in the period of study required innovations in the power of soil depletion due to neglect them human. The author also touched upon aspect of the formation of a local processing industry (for example, wine, distilling, vegetable oil, etc.). In addition, for the Stavropol region was characterized by a special agricultural and fishery ‒ sericulture, are profitable and promising business.
