Nomination of the Buryat phytonyms (onomasiological approach)

The linguistic approach to the study of phytonyms is to research the nomination of plants (onomasiology), which considers the word meaning from the content plan to that of expression. Plant names as part of the main lexis have ancient roots and are the subject of our research. They reflect the traditional types of activities and culture of the people, their perception of the world of plants, customs and beliefs. The article considers the phytonyms in the onomasiological aspect, describes the main ways of associations as the source of nomination. The object motivation attributes being the basis for nomination in different languages are various, that is why we see the perspectives for further research in a more detailed study. The conclusion that the identified principles and motives for nomination of plants reveal the specifics of the people's worldview, practical experience and value system has been made as the research result.
