Introduction.

Nonverbal communication, we can call it as manual language also, means the process of sending and receiving messages without words. Nonverbal communication refers to the ways in which beings convey information about their emotions, needs, intentions, attitudes, and thoughts without using verbal language. Nonverbal expressions serve important functions in human social life. They include expressing emotions; conveying interpersonal attitudes like friendliness, insult, or dominance; respect or disrespect; regulating affect; regulating turn taking between people in conversation. Cultural, gender, and other group differences in nonverbal behavior have been documented as well as individual differences in usage and in the accuracy of nonverbal transmission and reception.

Nonverbal communication is expressed through nonlinguistic suggests that it's the actions or attributes of humans, together with their look, use of objects, sound, time, smell, and space, that have socially shared significance and stimulate that means in others. Actually what does it mean ? Respect is a feeling of admiration, regard or action towards someone. It conveys a sense of admiration for good or valuable qualities. And it is also acting politely with someone. We show our respect to people not only with our words but with our gestures, facial expressions also.

GREET WITH HANDSHAKE.

British people tend to look very strict and common, but actually ther are friendly and helpful to foreigners. The first step to interact with them is usually a handshake. Nevertheless, you should be careful. Cause British people alue personal space very much. Therefore, hugging or kissing on the chick might make them uncomfortable.

DO NOT EXAGGERATE YOUR BODY LANGUAGE!

As I told above, English people do not like and feel uncomfortable when

others stand too close or touch them without permission. Personal space is very essential for them. Even though when they are getting on to the subway, people rather wait for the next train though there is some space for people standing. So, be careful when using your non-verbal expressions, try to avoid so big and gestures and overstated body language.

Try to smile but not laugh without any reason. In my view, being positive person is very helpful way to avoid some mistakes everywhere.

Now it is time to speak about USA.

Here are some ways to show your respect with your non-verbal expressions in the United States. These suggestions will help you to be respectful and polite to Americans.

EYE CONTACT

We know that eye contact is rude in some cultures, but not in USA. However, looking at eyes when you talk is one thing you can do to adapt to life in America. Americans tend to look people at the eyes when they are talking. They might not look at your eyes during the entire conversation – just some parts of it. If someone talks to you and you will not look at them in the eyes, they may think you are trying to hide something or being secretive.

Most Americans will shake hands. If your religion or social rules deny shaking hands and therefore you feel uncomfortable, you can always put your hands together and lean your head forward. With the help of this action, you can tell them politely that you do not want to shake hands. Some of them will be very surprised if you do not want to shake hands, however it is okay. You do not have to do things that make you feel uncomfortable.

Cover your mouth when your burp or cough, sneeze

Americans think that making bodily noises in front of other people is impolite. They try not to pass gas, burp, or make other bodily noises in public or in front of people they do not know well. Some people will excuse themselves to the bathroom if they need to burp. If you do burp, it is polite to say, “Excuse me.”
