The article carried out an analysis of the legal foundations of the activities of youth (children's) organizations. The object of the analysis is the international and Russian regulatory legal acts regulating the creation and functioning of youth (children's) public associations. The norms of international law that have been formed to date not only protect the rights and freedoms of minors, but also give them the right to create organizations to protect their legitimate interests. Russian legislation at the federal level confirms and clarifies these provisions through the formation of a mechanism for legal regulation of the activities of public organizations. The results of the analysis show that they indeed create the necessary regulatory framework for the activities of youth (children's) public organizations. Youth (children's) public organizations, created and functioning in accordance with international and Russian standards governing this sphere of public relations may become effective mechanisms for the successful socialization of the younger generation and the development of a really functioning civil society.
