Regulatory support of the right to form political parties in Georgia

The right to form political parties, its codification and the degree of its implementation are an essential feature of protecting the political rights of citizens of any state. At present, the former Soviet Union republics reform their political systems, including subjective political rights. The study deals with the right to form political parties in Georgia. The research elaborates on contemporary Georgian law on political parties, the concept of a political party, the restrictions imposed on the creation of parties. The author concludes that the legislation on political parties in Georgia complies with the overall trends in this field. At the same time, there are gaps and inconsistency in the regulations in terms of the lack of legal mechanisms to monitor their compliance with the restrictions imposed.
