Normative aspects of terminology are examined in the article. The classification of specific speech units according to the extent of their normative usage is represented in the paper. So, the lack of correspondence of basic notions to regulating activity designated by such terms as «regulation», «standardization» are disclosed both in the national and international terminological practice.
