The article is devoted to the history of the creation and functioning of the military party formations of the Soviet regime in the Chelyabinsk province at the final stage of the civil war. On the basis of normative and archival documents, the creation, legal regulation and functioning of special appointment units in the region are considered. The main dir sections of activity within the framework of the assigned functions, their changes in the period under review, as well as the place and role of the special appointment units in the system of special forces and formations are shown. The peculiarities of recruiting units and training communars are revealed. The organizational management system and the structure of the special appointment units are investigated. The dislocation of units by territories, their quantitative and qualitative composition is given. Examples of the combat use of special appointment units during the suppression of insurgent actions are considered.
