Musical language is the center of cultural memory and one of the links in the social formation. Its development is more active in an interactive environment with the musical traditions of other ethnic groups. For a long time, the absence of such contacts in the Yakuts hindered this process. With the advent of the Russian population, a new geopolitical situation arose, entailing cultural diffusion. The paper shows the influence of the European musical tradition on the Yakut folklore. The works of Zhirkov, M.N., Alekseyev, E.E. and Sheikin, Yu.I. on preserving the sound of folk song creativity and the problems of its notation are considered. A previously unknown handwritten document from archival collections dated 1942 is presented. The stylistics and subject matter give reason to believe that this work belongs to the famous musical figure in Yakutia in the mid-20th century, Zhirkov, M.N. Through musical folklore, the preservation and retransmission of the cultural code of an ethnos is possible. It has been suggested that the departure from the use of microchromatics in folk art and the transition to the European system of musical notation leads to the loss of the initial melodic-rhythmic thinking and genetic memory of the people.
