The modern information concerning pectic polysaccharides

The present review is devoted to the newest information about pectic polysaccharides (pectins) obtained by scientists of the Department of Molecular Immunology and Biotechnology of the Institute of Physiology, Komi Science Centre, Ural Branch, Russian Acad. of Sci. and some other authors carrying out research in this direction. The data concerning patterns of the pectin macromolecules, isolation of pectins from nutritive plants using conditions related to gastral ones, physiological activity of pectins and their fragments, and biotechnology of pectins by aid of the callus (cellular) cultures are given.
