The article considers the role of paper money in the regulation of the economic relations connected with employees’ wage rate determination, price of goods produced in the society, paper money ensures merchandise turnover and exercises other functions. The article gives the analysis of paper money positive and negative effects on economic performance. Legal regulation of paper money is researched. Proposals for its improvement, optimization, adaptation to economic laws are developed.
