The study included 40 male patients in the first stage of adulthood (22-35 years old) admitted to hospital with the symptoms of acute appendicitis and 589 healthy male individuals of the same age as a control group. We chose this age group because of the highest incidence of acute appendicitis among 10-30 year"old individuals. The study showed that local pain in males with different shapes of abdomen resulted in specific changes in laparometric parameters (longitudinal and transversal dimensions, deflection indicators, cross"sectional segment areas, and asymmetry indexes) measured using the computer Software Laparometric Diagnostics. These findings may be used for establishing the diagnosis of acute appendicitis and for speeding"up the verification of diagnosis in doubt because examination of these signs is easy and quick to perform.
